Biel/Bienne’s Old Town

The old town of Biel/Bienne will delight you with its charm and attractive plazas. Medieval facades, ornate fountains and quaint boutiques shape the cityscape, blending together to create a distinctive and captivating atmosphere. Noteworthy landmarks include the City Church (Stadtkirche), the Venner Fountain (Vennerbrunnen) and the Foresters’ Guild House (Zunfthaus zu Waldleuten). Omega Museum and Planet Swatch

The Cité du Temps, which means “City of Time”, is an important landmark in Biel, the watchmaking capital of the world. Designed by renowned architect Shigeru Ban, the building houses the Omega Museum and the Swatch Museum, known as Planet Swatch. It combines the innovative luxury of Omega with the creative and playful world of Swatch. Considered an architectural masterpiece, the Cité du Temps is dedicated to the history, technology and art of timekeeping.

St. Peter’s Island

Lake Biel/Lac de Bienne is a haven for nature with its scenic beauty and unique atmosphere. St. Peter’s Island is a particularly stunning location, renowned for its unspoiled nature and historical significance. It can be reached by boat, on foot or by bicycle. Jean-Jacques Rousseau visited the peninsula and raved about its peace and tranquillity. Today, the peninsula is a perfect spot for walks, bike rides and indulging in culinary delights at the traditional inn.
