The Federal Palace in Bern serves as the political heart of Switzerland. The parliament meets under the impressive dome, while the west and east wings house parts of the state government and the federal administration. The Bundesplatz with its delightful fountains is a lively meeting place, while the Bundesterrasse offers a wonderful view of the city, the River Aare and the Alps. Bear Pit and BärenPark
The Bear Pit is home to Bern’s heraldic animal and one of the city’s most famous sights. Since 2009, the bears have lived in a spacious park that blends harmoniously with nature and stretches along the River Aare. Visitors can watch the animals from different viewpoints and learn more about their history. The BärenPark combines tradition with modern animal welfare. It provides the bears with a beautiful, species-appropriate habitat, right next to the historic old town.
